BRINGING MORE THAN 200 YEARS OF HISTORY BACK TO LIFE

BOK KAI TEMPLE MUSEUM

Since 2016 the Marysville Chinese Community has worked in partnership with local organizations and donors to ensure the preservation of Chinese history and heritage in California. A yearlong internship with the California State University of San Jose’s Department of Anthropology brought two graduate level students in to help identify 500 artifacts dating back as far as the mid 1800’s during the early colonization of Chinese immigrants in Marysville.

The Marysville Chinese Community had a vision for many years that was finally realized with a 2016 Kickstarter campaign. Since then, volunteers with the Marysville Chinese Community have continued the work that ensures the artifacts will be available for public viewing in the museum, located within the Bok Kai Temple.
